Dracula
by Bram Stoker

Director’s Note
“Welcome to my house. Enter freely of your own will and please to leave something of the happiness you bring.”

So said Count Dracula to Jonathan Harker upon his arrival in Transylvania. And thus begins our chilling tale…

‘Dracula’ was first published in 1897 and yet to this day still holds a deliciously terrifying fascination for many of us. Our version of this classic gothic horror story uses modern day storytelling techniques but remains faithful to Bram Stoker’s original.

The cast and crew have worked very hard in crafting this challenging piece of theatre and I am immensely proud of them all.

A Message From Our Chairman

Welcome to tonight’s performance of Dracula. This is the 4th production to be staged in this our 50th Anniversary Year and what a year it has been. The introduction of air conditioning has improved audience comfort, on line ticket booking has made our plays more accessible and email marketing has improved communication with our registered supporters. The Wizard of Oz, Fawlty Towers and Relatively Speaking were enjoyed by bumper audiences and the Cheese and Wine Supper and a licenced bar were also well received!

We also improved our lighting and replaced our old timber stage set with a new lightweight, modular aluminium staging system provided by a local company and it has been especially pleasing to receive significant compliments regarding our sets.

I stand down after many years as Chairman with a smile and a certain level of satisfaction reflecting on our golden anniversary year which I think has also been a golden era for The Chameleons. I am delighted that new members have come forward to form a new committee and we all wish them every success.
