Barneys Windows |
These days stovepipe hats don't rank at
the peak of chic but Abraham Lincoln
does! In collaboration with New-York
Historical Society and Abraham Lincoln
High School, Fashion stronghold Barneys
New York has put a presentation at its
front door to prove it. The Barneys
windows on Madison Avenue near East 61st
Street display a panorama of portraits
of our 16th President, all singularly
realized by the inventive students at
Brooklyn's Abraham Lincoln High School
(whose illustrious alumni include Mel
Brooks, Harvey Keitel and Oscar-winner
Lou Gossett, Jr.) as a way to vibrantly
express "Happy 200th, Abe"
during New-York Historical Society's
year-long Lincoln celebration. The
windows notify Madison Avenue's
multitudinous pedestrians that these
original portraits may be purchased for
$100 each (they're going fast!), and to
visit New-York Historical Society's
"Lincoln in His Own Words"
exhibition, opening in collaboration the
Gilder Lehrman Institute on February
12th.
