Yellow-Billed Duck

Yellow-Billed Duck

During my recent trip to Lake Nakuru National Park and got to photograph this Yellow-Billed Duck feeding in a small stream.
I saw this for the first time and i think it is a migratory bird, going towards warmer weather away from the northern winter.

Centurion?

Centurion?

Explored 457 - 2012-01-24

During the previous trip to Nairobi National Park, I met up with this mature Bull Buffalo who had seen better days before him.
He was all alone and had just gotten up lying in the grass. View large on black and you shall see all sorts of flowers and grass stuck on his body.
He seemed to be in a hurry, going to the nearby dam for his daily drink of water.

Drinking in Peace!

Drinking in Peace!

A herd of Zebra's drinking water from the shores of Lake Nakuru.
Out in the wild, a simple task of drinking water can be a question of life and death. A lot of predators ambush their prey near watering holes knowing that all the herbivores have to come and quench their throat.
The shores of Lake Nakuru at this location are all open with no place for any predators to hide, hence a lot of plains game come here to drink water.
