materiales, incluyendo lana, piel, fieltro, cuero y paja.
A hat is a garment that is used to cover the head from the sun. Hats are differentiated from the caps because the former are more elaborate, with a high crown and are longer. A hat can be placed over the head or, in some cases of hats for women, be secured to the hair with tweezers.
The hat is used for more than two centuries, mainly for special occasions, although their use has changed for protection.
Hats can be manufactured with a variety of materials including wool,
leather, felt, leather and straw.
The use of hats, both as an ornament of the head to cover it, goes
back to the oldest. The Greeks used it in the city and the countryside
and Aegina, was carried down to the shows and this, in times of former
legislator Dracon.
Hats made of felt and then as we know it by carrying the Spartans. Among the Greeks, people wearing hats of all ages. However, the main use of the hats was preserved in the field of the sun and the rain which was careful to bring down the wings. Through the tapes that could be trimmed beard, tie underneath and when they wanted to go with the bare head was thrown behind his back and was suspended by the tapes which were tied underneath. To visit or to stay in the sun, the women wore a straw hat to tesaliense, like the straw hat that is usually used in Italy, ie without having hardly drink.
The old hats were usually as white as we see in many painted vessels that we have from antiquity. Sophocles makes Ismena to the youngest of the daughters of Oedipus adorned with one of these hats having escaped from Thebes to Athens was to join his father.
In times of Charles VI of France began to use caps in the field. In Charles VIII introduced its use in the cities but only in time of rain. In the reign of Louis XI had been more widespread and was carried at all times its use spread to neighboring nations. Established that Charles IV of France carried the beaver hat made its entry into Rouen in 1494. This hat was covered in crimson velvet and wearing a tassel at the top of gold thread.
The great then started to use them trimmed with feathers, lace and other embellishments while the clergy and the plebs continue with chapels or capirote. Later, the widespread use of the hat was changing the way depending on the time and today is commonly used throughout the civilized world.
