Largest Map of Palestine
May 10, 2012
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have unveiled the largest map of historical Palestine in the world in the presence of observers from the Guinness book of world records.
At 9.3 meters in width and 21.5 meters in height this map of Palestine is the largest in the world according to its makers.
The map is sponsored by Hamas's Refugees' Affairs Bureau as part of a series of events to draw attention to the plight of Palestinian refugees.
Factions' leaders and high ranking officials who attended the ceremony stressed the importance of the map to highlight the right of return and the Palestinians' right to their entire homeland.
In 1948 Israeli forces occupied Palestine and drove out most of its
inhabitants.
Israel has ever since wiped out many Palestinian towns and villages
off the map.
Analysts say that after 64 years of displacement Palestinians are determined to return to the land of their ancestors.
Palestinians have set several world records to draw attention to their cause in the past, but this event is considered by many as a sign of Palestinians' adherence to the entire historic land of Palestine.
