Took some pictures at the "Fête des Lumières" or "Festival of Lights" in Lyon, France.

As you can see in this picture, it is a long known tradition in the region to put candles on your balcony on the 8th of December to pay tribute to Mary who saved Lyon from the plague in 1643. Along with the modern lighting that's installed throughout the city, this makes for a rather unique but lovely spectacle..

The current state of my Peugeot Helium. I bought the bike in very good condition on eBay and I'm currently "converting" it into a fixed gear. Soon to come: new rear (and front?) wheel and ofcourse a new crankset.

After a beautiful and sunny long weekend, a heavy storm passed over Paris on Sunday night. I was lucky to have a nice view from my window and was able to capture my first ever lightning shots! It's nice to see the phenomenon in live, but it's also intriguing to see the detailed lightning strokes afterwards on the pictures..

This one could not have been very far away..

Panorama of the view from the Arc de Triomphe. The street in the middle is the Champs-Elysees with the embassy of Qatar on the left corner. On the right you can see the tower of Montparnasse and the Eiffel tower. On the left you can see the Sacré Coeur of Montmartre in the distance.

It's not the perfect panorama, but it's a nice souvenir anyhow..

Some guys were painting my floor of the student residence today. It looked kinda neat with the white walls and the reflection in the plastic floor cover so I decided to grab my camera. I originally posted a crisp version but since it looked too much like a mental asylum I decided to go with this one, which is (deliberately :p) out of focus.. :)
