An enjoyable afternoon out with Andy D and Andy S at the Sugar Factory.

The promise of a passing weather front, an active industrial plant bellowing lashings of steam and a sunset made this invite a definite yes. 2 out of 3 isn't bad! Thanks guys.

A sunset at Kimmeridge Bay. I'm not sure if this one is doing it for me. The light isn't hitting the spots I wanted it to. Is it too dark maybe?

Durdle Door, Dorset, UK.

The third in my Dorset portfolio.

We were looking through Landscape Photographer of the Year Book yesterday (from which I draw so much inspiration) and discovered the sheer volume of photographs from this section of the UK. A truly outstanding area of natural beauty. My visit here was quite an eye opener.

I hope you like this shot of Durdle Door. It is a very long exposure taken during the late afternoon. My aim was to convey the breeze by using the grasses in the foreground to blur. I also wanted to display the tranquillity of the place and opted for a 10 stop ND filter to smooth out the moving elements (sea and a few people that were on the beach).

The second photo in my portfolio of Dorset.

This was taken at Dawn from the cliff edge. It was dark as we began our walk to the coast - a wind-up torch didn't do much to shed light on our path and as you can see, the cloud ensured we had no stars or moonlight to help guide us so there was some guess work going on.

The place was as tranquil as this scene suggests. A beautifully calm, turquoise sea, the sound of sea birds enjoying their morning whilst the clouds teased with the blazing orange sky behind.
