Taken in El Nido, Palawan. Photo of a boy stationed at cave, waiting to harvest nido.
El Nido ("the nest") is named after the edible nests of cave swiftlets found in the crevices of the limestone cliffs that pepper the entire region. Interesting fact: these nests are used as an ingredient in nido soup, which is sold at $US 1,000-3,000 per kilogram!
