Western & Third
I wish I had a shot from this same spot 5 year ago with the decaying and closed Muskegon Mall. Western Avenue ended at this intersection, there was no traffic circle, the Hines and Sidock Buildings weren't even a dream at the only thing in their locations were the mall parking lots that had been chained off by the owner of the mall.
Then I would carry those two photos with me and every time I heard some resident talk about how horrible Muskegon is I'd show them how far the city has come in 5 short years.

Very nice! For whatever has been hitting Michigan over this decade, one thing is for sure; the city centers of almost every Michigan city are seeing real and tangible revitalization.
Is the Frau still a theater, BTW? That name is quite a mouthful for a theater.

Yes, and I would love to think when the economy does recover it just speeds up investment in the urban cores instead of going back to the suburbs.
Yes, the Frauenthal is still a performing arts theater that is ridiculously nice on the inside. I really wish I still had a friend who worked there so I could photograph the interior.
Here is a better shot of the theater

I think the trolley is a nice lucky touch to the photo.

Yeah, I was actually walking that way to photograph the trolley. I had taken close to the same picture earlier in the day with no trolley.

Very good downtown view. The trolley and the old style sign just above it add a nice touch.
