ruins at Alcatraz
another one from our visit to Alcatraz...
Now that it is a National Park there is work to restore the crumbling structures... Lots of work to be done and well worth seeing!
The place has an eerie feel to it even when the fog finally lifts - we got there on the very first boat of the day and left around lunch time. The fog still had not lifted from the island by mid day!

we did the tour of Alcatraz ... what a place... bars and grates over every window and the most amazing gardens
quite the juxtaposition of elements within a space...
