(6/6) Assignment Six: Light/Shadow

(6/6) Assignment Six: Light/Shadow

Dear friends, last Saturday, I competed on a photo marathon hosted by "Stream Photo Asia". The result was just in yesterday and it turned out that I won the first prize on this competition!

This is the detail of the competition from the organizer: "Last Saturday, about 120 photographers participated in the first edition of our Photo Marathon. Participants received six assignments during the day. Each assignment had to be completed within the hour"

The photos will be displayed at Central World from 21/2 to 7/3.

There are total of 6 photos in the series. All of the photos submitted cannot be post processed in any kind. Only in-camera editing is allowed.

Photographer's note:
The worst of my series, lol. I ran out of time. I give myself 1 star on this one :(

Photographer's note:
My concept is to get a before and after of a barber shop. I was lucky to find a hip-hop/rapper-style of a barber shop in Siam square. To make it more cinematic look, I changed my white balance to shade so I could simulate split toning between yellow and green.

IFirst, I have to thanks Anthony for his idea on going to the canal near Siam area. For me, I would like to capture the motion + the wave + leading line of dry foreground. I did a lot of test shots for almost an hour to realize that the exposure cannot be too long or you can;t really get a shape of the ship passing by.

Photographer's note:
First I thought I have to take a photo of trees in contrast with the grey building. But, I would like to take it to the street so I kept walking and walking to search for the subject. It took me almost half an hour to came across this poor man. He is a disabled beggar crawling on the street. When I took his photos, it came to my mind that is this a violation of personal right? Do I just want a photo without caring about others. This is a dilemma :(

Photographer's note:
My concept behind this is to create a contrast between "stop" and "motion". I used Lee Filters 0.6 GND (left to right) and CPL to reduce the flare. Calculated the exposure time that would create the best effect at 1.6s
