Yucatan Cenote

Yucatan Cenote

The natural wonders of the Yucatán are countless and some of the most important and unusual are the 'cenotes'.....there are over 6000 'cenotes'...a Mayan word for 'a hole filled with fresh water'.

This one is called 'Sacred Blue Cenote', hanging vines, beautiful pure, fresh, cool water and many stalactites in the caves. It is in a protected Mayan community and is their only source of drinking water.

Tourists may attend at specific times .

Just in case you are wondering, usually do but no, I didn't swim in this one...too many people waiting as you can see ;-)))

Icy swim

Icy swim

Out and about, spotted these two ducks taking advantage of the open water in the frozen Ottawa River.

This is the extreme opposite temperature from the previous pic ;-)

My reward from a group of friends

My reward from a group of friends

A group of friends we met on a previous occasion.
I had just given out a bunch of treats and this was my instant, very well behaved, impromptu reward, a lovely pic of the group ;-))
Plus I also received some pictures and souvenirs made from sea shells.

This is also a super surfing area.

Surprise! I`m here for lunch !

We took a picnic lunch and had an unexpected guest wanting to feed from our hand.
They are usually quite placid and shy.
