Tipical dessert served mainly during easter
(dont ask me which day or days), made out of
bread completely full of sugary milk, then
dried slightly, then covered by egg, fried,
and completely covered with sugar.
There is not such a thing called
"spanish donut"!!
Torrijas is something we cook for breakfast,
specially in easter week. You english people
call it "French toast", read
article on wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_toast. It says "In Spain, it is called
torrijas and is typically made during Lent,
out of thick slices of bread soaked in milk
or wine, dipped in egg, fried and then
drenched in spiced honey or cinnamon."
I agree it's an accurate definition but I
usually do not drench in spiced honey.
I usually make them soaked in brandy, and
then drenched in honey and cinnamon. My
grandma and my family had always made it in
that way, in Cordoba, Andalucia. Delicious...
much more delicious than donuts!!!

In Hawaii they have a donuts called, "malasadas." These resemble that and they were amazing.

Actually there are not "spanish donuts", it's bread with egg toasted, and then you put sugar on.
It's very typical here Easter week ;3
