Waterton Columbines

Waterton Columbines

I realize Columbines aren't exactly rare, but I love them. And it's to illustrate a point about the flora of Waterton Lakes: amazing is the only word that comes to mind! Lots of wild flowers (apparently over 900 varieties!) in this area because of the diverse terrain and climate.

Brilliant Bertha Lake

Brilliant Bertha Lake

I appear to be working backwards through our Canada trip. Oh well, we'll get through it eventually! This is Bertha Lake, in the Canadian Rockies at Waterton Lakes National Park (in southern Alberta, very close to the Montana border).

Glacier

Glacier

A little out of order, but we drove through Glacier National Park on the way back to Oregon. We had just spent the day in Waterton Lakes (basically Glacer, but in Alberta), and it was amazingly windy. We drove into Montana and the temperature dropped to the mid 40's (on a July afternoon!), but the clouds and wind afforded some amazing views!

Kananaskis Country

Kananaskis Country

Long time no Flickr...I know, I know! But, things have been rather busy. I'm starting to put together some pictures I took during our trip to Alberta from July. This may take a while, but I hope you enjoy the summer images.

This is the Elbow River and the Canadian Rockies from a ridge we crested hiking in the Kananaskis Country outside of Bragg Creek, Alberta, Canada.
