Veteran Plaque
Doug Barnett
Have you ever met someone who served in 5 battles of World War 2 ? Here you go, meet Mr.Doug Barnett, 89 years old.
Last weekend I changed my routine a little bit and drove to a place called Mount Solidad nearby just to see how the view was up there on that overcast morning. There I met with Pat and Doug. We started talking and I started taking pictures of their dog. At some point he said, "Do you want to see my picture on the wall of Veteran Photos? " I was
amazed at that and quickly came to know about his service. His plaque mentioned the battle at Iwo Jima (The famous island where the iconic "Raising the flag" picture was take: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raising_the_Flag_on_Iwo_Jima ). I also took photos of him raising the flag at Mount Solidad (I may post these later). Every sunday it is his routine to raise the flag there in the morning and take it down at night. Pretty interesting and inspiring.
PS: I promised to send them the pictures I took of them, which I am doing now. I posted a smaller size here in the interest of protecting them in this crazy online world. For a right-click-protected but a bigger version, visit : 500px.com/photo/5403146

The sunset color is no exaggeration. All of this is pretty much straight out of the camera...
