Be silent. Be still. Belong.

Be silent. Be still. Belong.

If you look closely, you can see a bit of the mountain beyond all the fog of heavily falling snow. By the time we made our way up to the Bear Lake trails, everyone was packing it in for the day as the storm had decided to move in and make a home over the mountains. And what a gorgeous storm it was -- the snow falling so softly, so quietly. It was thick and perfect, blanketing the world around us. If you stood there without movement and simply closed your eyes, you could actually hear the mountains fall silent beneath the snow.

It was beautiful. Peaceful. Magical. It was as if God was telling us to be still, be silent, be mindful of the beauty He has created and the gifts He has given to us -- both big and small.

Perhaps we were not meant to see the mountains up close that day, perhaps instead we were meant to hear the gift of creation.

"Look a little deeper to see what you once saw and maybe you'll do what you once did." ~ JMP

**If you see any spots on the photo, that would be the giant falling snowflakes which I chose not to edit out.

See Me

See Me

The more I use my iPhone, the more I love it.

'Oh but it's not "real" photography,' say the die hard photographers with the expensive gear.

Well to you I say, 'Go visit another stream and judge someone else.'

I know that photography is real in every form because it stems from the photographer, the person who took the photograph. Not every image is going to be amazing, not every image is going to be worthy of front page news or the highest of honors, but I believe every photograph tells a story and the story is real.

The story is yours, mine, everyone. We are connected in ways we have yet to discover and as the world spins with offering of new experience, so spins our imaginations, our lives, our stories.

My life is my story and when I share it through photography, I'm sharing with you bits and pieces of my life, my history, my heart.

Next time you come across a photograph and you think to yourself, 'Wow, this would have been a great image had it been taken with (insert camera model here) on (insert setting here) at (enter time of day here).' How about instead you stop and take a moment to realize that someone decided to share their story with you, no matter how important their story is, they decided to share it with you. Talk about a humbling moment. Someone you don't even know decided to share their story with you, their moment in their history.

Turn the technicalities off and sit back to enjoy the view of the world around you and those who choose to live it openly, honestly.

Be real, be authentic, and be open to the possibilities of what life has to offer you. See what is before you and participate with a hunger so great, so infectious that you cannot help but to share your story with others.

'Welcome Home' say the mountains.

'Welcome Home' say the mountains.

I was on vacation last week and began the trip in Bellingham, WA and ended the trip in Estes Park, CO. This was the best vacation I've had in a very, very long time. It was perfect really. Gorgeous views, amazing weather, awesome friends, and just all around good times.

Our first morning in Colorado, we woke up and this was the view from the deck of our cabin at the YMCA of Estes Park. Truly gorgeous colors, truly amazing day. God is good!

Oh and yes, there is a bit of noise here but considering this shot was taken and edited with my iPhone 4, I'd say it didn't turn out too shabby eh? ;)
