Kawasaki Rose from dollar bill

Not a fun fold for me; but wanted to see if I could do it from a $ after Andrew Hans posted to the O-List a method for this. Sy Chen provides us with this: users.erols.com/sychen1/Diagram/FoldRec2Sq.PDF.

Hi, i'm sure someone already asked for it. is it possible for you to post the direction for this beautiful rose?! I tried the link that you posted, but it was already taken down.

      thanks!

It is the Kawasaki "new" rose; the one that is angular. I'm sure you can find diagrams somewhere on the internet. I think Winston Chan did diagrams. Or, more supportive of the artist, you can buy Origami Mathematics by Kawasaki. It is now translated.

What I had posted were diagrams for one method to get the largest square possible out of a dollar. Hope this helps.

I am new to this group. But when I saw this dollar rose, I just had to find some more geat models.Ae there diagrams for this somewhere or a book? I am a beginner but can take the challenge. So anyone out there, can you help me find the diagrams? The link is not working for me.
      Thank you. :o)

Um....did you bother to check the comments above you? Your questions are answered there.

Nice! It must have been hard doing the little details. Did you use any tools? How many tries did it take? Did you use a brand new dollar? Did you have trouble making it keep its shape? Lastly, approximately how long did it take you to make and was it at one sitting?

      Hey, Young!

I made this so long ago, I'm not sure I remember answers to all of your questions. I only did it one time, and it didn't really excite me. I much prefer doing the Kawasaki rose from regular paper.

Going in order of your questions:

      -It's possible I incorporated tweezers here and there; but it's also possible, I didn't. I don't remember.

      -It only took one try.

-I always use brand new dollar bills. If a bill is not brand new, I won't fold.

-No difficulties at all with it keeping its shape. Although, who knows? I have no idea where I've placed it. It's easy to duplicate, if needed. I just find it tedious and unenjoyable.

-I made it in one sitting, and it probably didn't take any longer than it takes to make the rose from regular paper.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of trying it but since I never made the Kawasaki rose, I don't think I should be trying a minature version first. :)

      Happy Folding,

Reminds me of Won Park's Koi. I made it and I like it but it was tedious doing all those scales. I never got the urge to repeat and improve my first try. :) I once saw a photo of someone doing 20 or more of them. Mind boggling!

      P.S. over,

I believe that was me! I think I emailed about it to the moneyfolding group.

I've slowed down on them; but the koi is definitely worth folding, and worth practicing to get it "right".

It gets a huge "wow" factor from people.

      Hey,

I just finished the final draft to my Dollar Angel diagrams. I wonder if you would like to get a copy, try it and give me some comments. Try some of the variations I suggested if you're bored. I don't know when I will post it to the whole group. I am looking for test folders at the moment. Um, you're probably well know but I don't know who you are. :)

Thanks for the offer! The angel is one of your best models. Normally I'd love to test out diagrams; but right now, I have not been doing a lot of folding. I've been undergoing some job changes. Very stressful, busy time right now. Why not ask Won and Marcio to test them out? Andrew Hans would also be a good one to ask.

Um, you're probably well know but I don't know who you are. :)

lol....I'm no one famous, but some people within the origami community who go to Conventions would know me. (Michael Sanders)
