Friday Flick, August 20th: Scarecrow

Friday Flick, August 20th: Scarecrow

26"Wx26"H This is going to be the last of my Friday Flicks untill the middle of September. The Friday Flick is taking a summer vacation. In the mean time I will have my art work at the Peterborough Folk Festival on August 28th and the Labour Day weekend I will have a little exhibit at the Fenelon Falls Art show
www.kawarthaartsfestival.com/ .
I encourage everyone to check out the 3 groups that I have formed

The art work is of a certain style, so it is a very select artist segment that is invited to exhibit. Also, I run these groups like a directory, with only one sample per artist, this way nobody gets lost in the crowd. And if anyone wants to see more, they just follow the link to the artist`s site.

Friday Flick, August 13th: Experiment6

Friday Flick, August 13th: Experiment6

26"Wx26"H This is another experiment, so as usual I was kind of lost. I just found it interesting that the same radius was shared by the large and small circles.
I was accepted into the Toronto Art Expo torontoartexpo.com/ , in April next year. I have thrown my money down and now I am playing with the big boys. They want $2000. for 3 days of booth space. Just the space, the actual booth is $600. extra. When I happen to mention that I thought this was a little steep I was refered to the Toronto International Art Fair tiafair.com/#
They normally want $9500. for 5 days of booth space, but as an introductory offer to emerging artists, they are giving a booth away for $6500. for 5 days. It starts October 28th, the tickets to get in to the "opening night" are $200. and that starts at 6:00, but for $300. you can sneek in 2 hours early to get first chance at purchasing this art. Then for the normal people it is $18. a person for the remaining 4 days. I have been a serious artist for 40 years now, and I never knew this existed. I have been going to local outdoor shows, and not selling anything. I have had 3 large solo exhibits in government galleries, and no one really noticed. And then I clue in to this other world where art is so important that "collectors" are paying $300. just to get first chance at purchasing a painting.
I don`t believe it, I can`t believe it, I will believe it when I see it and not before.

Friday Flick, Aug 6th:Thoughts

36"Hx26"W I called this "thoughts" for lack of a better title. Today the heat wave has ended so I will be out working on the wood pile. I heat my house with wood. It`s been good weather for producing art work though.

Friday Flick,July 30th: Butterfy Eyes

24"Wx39"H My plans to take a sabatical from painting and enjoy the good weather were offset by too much good weather, it is too hot to do anything. I wished I had gotten my wood (for my wood stove) piled in the spring. It is even too hot to ride my bicycle.

Friday Flick, July 23rd: Fireworks

Friday Flick, July 23rd: Fireworks

26"Wx32"H This is brand new, the paint is just dried. I am so excited, it is another one of my optical illusions, which are very rare.
All my optical illusions are original, they are the product of automatic drawing, they just appear on the paper when I am doodling. I am not saying that they havn`t been discovered before, but the first time I have discovered them is when they came out of my pencil .
If I am accepted into the Toronto Art Expo, I plan on dedicating a wall to my optical illusions.
My daughter was visiting with a friend, I asked them if they wanted a sneak preview of this Friday`s Flick, I was so excited, my first feedback. They just stared, then the friend looked over at next Friday`s Flick (Butterfly Eyes) that was still being worked on, and commented that she liked that one. I said, but what about Fireworks, see how it moves around. They smiled politely and left the room. It is funny the different perspectives between the artist and the viewer.
I encourage everyone to check out the 3 groups that I have formed.
