I like the boxes much more than the cigars

    another below:
I hate the smell of cigar smoke. It makes me queasy. It is so thick, it almost feels like an evil spirit (Maybe not evil but a really annoying one) is trying to take roost in my own very pink lungs. I smoked a couple cigarettes (literally only a couple) and I actually enjoy smelling cigarette smoke when it is outside, not in a concert space or a restaurant. I remember when Husband and I would go to concerts, we would wake up the next morning and our hair would smell like cigarette smoke, we would cough and hack like we smoked a half pack each and I would feel sick, like I had a cold for a couple of days later.
anyway... I like the boxes. I have several little wood cigar boxes here that I keep small treasures in. Dice, beads, tiny antique vases, small bits of carved wood, vintage jewelry, bits of lace, maybe even a marble or two.

i need some cheap old cigar boxes. i have a tramp art frame that has one little piece missing. i don't mind repairing it, but i want to use the authentic gen for the repair, even though it will be painted. unfortunately, all the old cigar boxes i see are priced as collectibles or antiques, and the new ones (I think) are made out of pressed cardboard, instead of thin cedar, or whatever wood it was they used.

try out estate sales. That is where I bought mine. I know I only paid a dollar or two for them. Good Luck!

I wish you Luck! I have found mine in estate sale garages holding screws and nails and other rusty bits, in cupboards holding misc sewing things like needles, sewing machine parts and swatches of fabrics
I LOVE these little boxes. Like little time capsules in a way :)

Oh, I am SO going to steal a part of this idea! I love them too... my great uncle was a big - BIG - cigar-smoking Irish cop who would bring me his empty boxes to hold all my treasures. I don't have a single one of them, but have collected one or two of my own. I love them and the memories they bring back - green army men, Trolls, pencils, odd bits of string and paper... all the good stuff that add up to treasure for a seven-year-old. Need I add that the photo here is just wonderful? (Will your head swell so that you won't be abloe to do mre of them? Will it be my fault? LOL) I love the richness of colour and your always-good choices of focus.
