A World of Suds

A World of Suds

I've been wanting to make this "beer map of the world" since about three years ago; I'm happy to have finally gotten enough beer caps from around the world to do so.

A note about this picture:

- THIS MAP IS BY NO MEANS POLITICALLY CHARGED OR MOTIVATED; please do not comment with overtly political comments if your country/region was not included, or if by your political beliefs you believe that I have included a country/region which you do not believe has sovereignty. Political comments not relating to the subject of this photo (beer caps from around the world) will be deleted.

- Since Greenland is technically an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark, Danish beer caps were placed in Greenland.

- Due to restrictions against alcoholic beverages for countries in the Middle East, some malt beverages were substituted for beer instead. Also, the lack of caps from the Middle East in the picture above stems from the same reason.

- Beer caps may not correspond exactly to the geographical region that they are from. I tried to get as close as possible, but the caps presented here are representative only of the ones that are feasible to obtain from the US. For example, a cap from Zimbabwe is almost impossible to procure in the US, so one from Tanzania resides in the geographical location of Zimbabwe on the map. Also, for non beer-producing regions of a certain country (like Melville Island in Canada), a generic beer cap widely available in that country would be placed there (i.e. Labatt Blue).

- I am still working on the tags for this picture. I hope to have this complete sometime soon.

I'm not dead...

I'm not dead...

...just on vacation in China (whoo! first real vacation in over 2 years!)

Posts will be sporadic until Sep. 7th, when I return to the states. However, these next five photos can give you a general idea as to what I'm up to.

The picture above is that of Pudong New District (浦东新区)in Shanghai (上海). It's hard to believe this area was a mud flat just twenty years ago... testament to the growth and transition of the country over these last few decades.

P.S. This photo is SOOC. I'm not too satisfied... will post-process when I get back.

... why don't they do this in the US? Such a cool lighting effect.
