Deer Crossing

Following behind my mom, brother and our tour guide to the Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur, India I spotted this deer nonchalantly crossing our path while the people discussed the effects of monsoon on the migratory habit of birds.

However I cannot decide if this one would have been better had the people in the foreground been in focus as well?!!

great shot! the misty dark-ish in the background really adds to it.

I am not sure what would have been better, but I still like the shot.

really great image. I like the people out of focus, it pulls the attention farther down the road, while the fog hides the deer making it the central subject.
i like this picture a lot!

plus: very nice capture..the alert deer watching the ignoring-him humans
minus: I agree with you that the focus might have been different. Is this a scan of a film picture? I think that's the "noise" I see?

yes it is a scanned picture. Also it was a really foggy morning.

plus: Wonderful subject, great use of telephoto.
minus: The colors in the distance are washed out (because, of that fog). You could fix this in Photoshop & it might make a great photo really outstanding.

The off-focus foreground group adds interest, while not detracting the eye from the deer and the setting, which, if in focus, they would have done.

I really love this photo - it has great atmosphere

Regrettfully, unlike the others, I'm not down with the "atmosphere" in part because the people in the foreground are not just blurred but grainy. It just looks like a poor shot with nothing actually in focus. Nor is it a good deer pic, and they can be beautiful although just seeing them is quite common. So I'm not your audience for this one.
