The intriguing moon
[REPOST] For all my new Flickr friends! One of my fav shots in my stream.
The moon presents a real challenge in photography. This is one of the only shots that had nice exposure as well as sharpness.
This picture was taken after dark on California's central coast (San Simeon). Equipment used: Sony DSLR-A500 and a SAL 70-300G lens.

hey kartic dont knock it it is a good shot .
i photograph the moon alot as it always intrigues me i use a setting of 1/250/f16-f22 depending on brightness. i use a sigma 50-500 @500 end hand held

@bob, I used f/11;1/125;ISO 200 for this. You're right about increasing the shutter speed according to the brightness. This was an interesting experience. Now I'll always be watching for the moon in interesting compositions.

The textures you've captured in the moon are intense -- the dark blotches show, natch, but so do the creamier, smoother surfaces. It looks as if lit from within. Great work!
I've never even attempted shooting the moon, 'cause I rarely photograph w/a tripod and I'd think you'd need a lot of visual-field stability to get a shot like yours.
