Cafe Giardino's coffee was a delight. A full but smooth caramel roast. I'll be back for more.

This one goes out to Caleb, an old friend in Sydney and fellow barista back in the day.

This is Tatsuya Motoike, the man behind all things coffee in Yonago, Japan. He runs several different cafes and restaurants in town, under his company Old New Cafe (oldnewcafe.com). He started the trend of authentic espresso culture here 12 years ago as a barista. These days he concentrates his efforts on the cupping, blending and roasting of the coffee, while running his ever growing business and brand. It was great to finally meet up with him this morning at his Giardino/Foresta cafe/restaurant and tell him how much of a coffee geek I am.

Here's a really neat wall display at a funky cafe near our place called Giardino. The vintage film camera is the subject I hope to draw attention to. Taken with my new 5D2, this is yet another salute of appreciation to the world of full frame photography.

I've always wanted to be a paleontologist… This morning I got to pretend to be one when I stumbled on the unfortunate remains of a small bird. Ok it's not a dinosaur but they're the closest thing to one right.

I guess even the animals can't make it through the winter over here.

My wife's best friend Mariko checks her schedule on her smart phone. She's a pro wedding photographer so we went to visit her this morning to pick her brain about all things photography… and show off my new 5D2 of course.
