An Autumn Impression

An Autumn Impression

I made this image for a friend. I wanted to create a painterly effect with a photographic image. Having seen these popping up left and right, I figured it was as good as any type of image to convey that painterly look. I shot this on my last outing to American Fork Canyon. The aspens made for great color. I also printed it on canvas and made a gallery wrap to take that painted look even further.

On a side note, this will be my last formal post to Flickr. I haven't had the time to be shooting much, with working more and winding down on my formal education. I have also grown tired of the amount of foot traffic on Flickr. I will keep my account in order to keep up with some of you who I haven't found on other photo sharing networks and that, as well as possibly share some work for remaining class assignments. For my landscape/portfolio work, however, I'll be posting to a few new sites with a bit more of a professional feel. Anyway enjoy, and thank you Flickr for the last few years. It's been a great experience.

Autumn's Presence

Autumn's Presence

It's been awhile since I've been to American Fork Canyon, and I have tried the last few fall seasons to make it up for the leaves but failed. So today I figured I had no excuse not to go. Great time in the season, forecast showed good cloud coverage, and the weather was beautiful. I took the scenic drive from Alpine Loop off Provo Canyon to the North Fork of American Fork. Right now there is fantastic fall color. When I reached my final destination, Silver Lake Flat, the sunset was just getting ready. Clouds were there, but this was the best color of the evening. Processing wise I took the single image route again.

Flowers & Fresh Scents

Flowers & Fresh Scents

Haven't had much time to get out with class, and trying to find a new work situation. The few times I have made it out I was sent home in pouring rain and storms. So this evening I made a point to take a hike. It stormed until late afternoon, and when I first arrived I had some nice clouds lingering above Albion Basin. By the sunset, though, there was nothing up here.

The flowers are in bloom, not as abundant as my shoots here last year, but with all the rain it won't be long at all. The smell up here was overwhelming tonight as well. It's always nice to escape the smoggy valley for some clean, fresh mountain air. I'll be back here this weekend. Hoping for better skies then.

Single image processed in LR & PS this evening. Used my Lee grad. on camera. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your week, Flickr.

Edgewater Surge

Edgewater Surge

Home from Utah for a few weeks, I'm taking advantage of some photo outings along our Great Lake. The other night a good friend & I drove to Edgewater Park in Cleveland to catch sunset. Wasn't treated to much color, but lots of dramatic clouds, a rowdy lake, and a backdrop of sailboats along the horizon worked out. Processing wise, another single exposure with my Lee on camera, and simple adjustments in LR & PS. Hopefully I'll catch a nice colorful shoot at the local beach soon and I plan on exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but until I get something else to throw up here, enjoy.

Standing Solo

Standing Solo

With extra ammunition from our camping trip, my friends and I took a drive along the west side of Utah Lake to expend some rounds. As the sunset approached I began exploring the hillsides looking for comps. In an effort to get up over the hill I was hiking to the top when I was greeted by this tree and patch of flowers. Processed a single exposure making adjustments in LR & PS, shot with my Lee filter. I was glad I brought my camera today.
