Detail of the Dream Garden
There is a pool in front of the mural providing a barrier to people like me getting too close to the art. I have seen other Tiffany murals at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC but I'm not sure they can top this one. I'll have a chance to compare this Saturday when I go up for the day to see some special exhibits at the Met. Here in Baltimore we have lots of Tiffany sprinkled around town. I know of a mural of the Last Supper at the Unitarian Church which the church was thinking of selling a few years ago. At that time the going price was one million dollars. This mural in Philadelphia was put up for sale for nine million dollars in 1998 but the city of Philadelphia stopped the sale by designating the mural an "historic object" thus allowing it to remain where it was in public view. It really is a hidden treasure of the city.
