I had been out here, on the Howard River, Northern Territory, waiting for some lightning .
I did not get any shots here of lightning but then this Shelf cloud formation rolled in. Just a few minutes after this shot there was absolute torrential rain. I packed up just in time.

30 second shot then after strike I quickly painted the scene with 6 flashes from flash unit from down low and to the side. Untouched straight out of the camera.

I thought I would try the 70-200 out again on lightning, it is the best lens I have, but I have had more success with the 10-24mm Tamron on lightning. I will give it another go but next time I think I will light up the foreground with a few flashes after the strike to see how that works out. This is on the side of the road at the front of our block, in Howard Springs, Northern Territory, 70-200VRII @ 70mm,13 sec, F5, ISO 200
