88:365 Suburban sunrise

Newer Older

The day is a lot more relaxed when you know you have at least one good photo in the can by 6:30 in the morning!

This is the sun rising over my street as I leave for work in the morning. I like the colours, and the tiny bit of sun peeking over the house. D'you think the foreground is too dark? I waffled between brightening it and not, but I think it's more dramatic like this. It's not a very interesting foreground, in a suburban neighbourhood sort of way...

Yeah, I had that crop that you suggested, Sue. I waffled back and forth and thought maybe it was a little unbalanced -- but that's just about exactly where I cut it!

you could cut it right under the cars, although i like it this way, the cloud makes it all.

Very nice colors. I'd probably crop it to something like an 8x10 and remove most of the lower third.

I really like those rays. I don't know how I'd crop this, I kind of think I like it as-is.

oh, i added a suggested crop. personally i would have cropped it so that there was only one "side feature" like either the tree OR the street lamp not both....but that's just me. it's a great picture as is!
