Ben - Barn Door Portrait
Playing around with a new set of barn doors that fit small speedlights.
This was on-camera flash, with the ambient (cloudy light) pushed down about a stop. The doors were closed to just let a slit of light wash across his face and the wood.
I like the effect, mostly because of the tight balance between ambient and flash. The light is almost not there, but adds a nice layer to the photo.
Shot with a Canon G9, with a barn-doored SB-800 mounted on top in manual mode. I did take the small shadow on the fence out from behind the camera left ear, given that this one was not going into The Sun.
