New Bridge Logos

Some of these are new ones, some old ideas rehashed. The triangle/road version was previously well liked by the Church group (but so was the Cross idea). I've eliminated color so I can finalize the logo itself first. Thanks again in advance for everyone's input!

It's a new logo for The Bridge Bible Church. The pastor originally wanted a bridge as the logo. Key words he's come up with: Community, Bridges, Journey, Relationships, Full Life Development in Christ.

Excellent move to start in black and white. I'd take even another step back and start with pencil and paper, figure out what you want to communicate, get past the name and dive into the personality and how to tell the story of Bridge. Sketch sketch sketch...then move to the computer.

We did start with pencil and paper, months ago. Unfortunately, I didn't discover the group til recently and was more in the final stages of the logo - or at least I thought so :)

      2B has my vote.

I guess the biggest issues are that we don't understand the thoughts behind some of these concepts. I'm not sure what you're trying to convey with the fading bars.

They look good, but not sure what they communicate. Can you explain them a little better?

Sorry if I didn't explain this better. I'm new to the group. I wish I had found this earlier back when we first started the logo, but unfortunately- it's been going on for a while and I'm entering the group mid stream.

What we're working on is the logo for the Bridge Bible Church. The pastor originally wanted a bridge as the logo - very straightforward, but it didn't work as a strong logo. In talking to him, the key words he's come up with: Community, Bridges, Journey, Relationships, Full Life Development in Christ.

The top two use the three bars - picked because of the trinity, depict roads-lanes, used vertical to stress upward focus. Growing.

2a has the same ideas, but obviously the cross and intersecting (relationships)

2b uses the i-shape repeating. Multiple shapes to represent community. Also give the feel of planks form a wooden walking bridge - we've used wooden walking bridge in other stuff when we talk about building bridges to people. The fade is there for movement/motion. Looks like a grayscale though too, which I don't know how that would relate? likely not at all.

3a similar concept to 2b, but less shapes and more motion to right. Weaker I think.

3b Concept of a road going into the horizon. This was well liked and a front runner for a while. They liked the road idea, moving forward and also the triangle and it pointing upward. In past versions there were dashed road lines, but eventually we dropped them. Also, BRIDGE was at the top in the Horizon in other versions.

4a is same concepts as 3b and 4b with an offset cross stemming from the I. Reminds me more of a flag than a logo.

Those are the concepts, although I feel that if I have to explain them more than it's a church logo, they are failing and I'm probably not doing my job well.

My goal is to create a memorable, timeless logo. To borrow from Rand, I want it to identify and symbolize, not describe and tell the story. The Church is about building bridges to people and journeying together in full-life development in Christ. I hope that helps and I hope you all can help me. Thanks!

2b has some cool connections to your key words IMO. I'd love to see that idea manipulated in some ways.

One thing that occurs to me is that Community, Journey, and Relationship and even Full Life in Christ bring much more fluid imagery to my mind.

What about introducing elements of curve, movement, and perspective (depth) into some of these (especially 2b)?

I ran across these tips for creating a great logo yesterday. They may worth looking at.

@enadsleinad - thanks for the input. I've seen lists like that, definitely helpful info. Good point on the fluid part. I'll revisit some older designs along those lines and rework them, along with a couple of those on here.
