Badgers are noctural creatures, which means most people rarely see them. They're fed in the afternoon at the British Wildlife Centre, so it was a real treat to see them. They were given a variety of food, including salmon, which they appeared to relish (see below).
It absolutely breaks my heart to think that badgers are being culled, right now, in trial areas in England. It's even worse to think that the period of the cull has been extended because they 'didn't kill enough'. This is despite badgers being a protected species and huge public opposition to the cull. Farmers believe badgers spread tuberculosis to their cattle, but the issue is very controversial and, many believe, the link is not proven.
