Aravist, pronounced "air-a-vist", is derived from the Latin for "rare bird". Started as a fashion doll company, Aravist has now branched into original sculptural jewelry.
The jewelry is either mixed media (the bangles are made of tiny polymer clay roses) or made of sterling silver, cast from original wax sculptures.
The fashion dolls, featured during New York Fashion Week in 2009, are 2 feet tall, with 17 points of articulation. I molded and cast all dolls by hand in polyurethane resin.
Both dolls and jewelry have been used as display pieces and charity fundraiser items, to help educate underprivileged kids in India and to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
