In the garden of he Silver Pavilion
(Ginkaku-ji) the ground is kept free of leaf
litter and small plants, so the mosses thrive
under the shade of the trees. Kyoto is damp
place, not like Adelaide, so the mosses do
well. The box of mosses was put there so
visitors realised importance and diversity of
mosses to be seen in the garden. The box is
twice as long as shown in the photo.
