Tehachapi Pass Wind Farm Hills & Turbines. Wind Turbines began being built here in the 1980's and stood between 45 and 60 feet high. They now reach up to 400 and 500 feet high producing from 1 to 2.4 megawatts of power. There are multiple generations of turbine technology here including single, double and triple blade turbines. With over 4,700 turbines this is the second largest wind farm in California and is considered the birthplace of wind in North America.
You can hike and tour the park and sometimes see wild horses. At Cameron Road and Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road is where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses. This is where you can take a 6 miles round trip hike or less as desired to see wildflowers in spring and possibly wild horses.
