Basile of Annunciation - 2nd floor - Looking Forward כנסיית הבשורה - קומה2 - מבט קדימה

Basile of Annunciation - 2nd floor - Looking Forward כנסיית הבשורה - קומה2 - מבט קדימה

This is the parish church for the Catholic community of Nazareth (which is why the inscriptions on the ceramic Stations of the Cross are in Arabic).

Located in Nazareth (Israel).
Nazareth is home to at least 23 monasteries and churches. Many of the older churches are located in the Old City.

The church was established at the site where, according to Roman Catholic tradition, the Annunciation took place. Greek Orthodox tradition holds that this event occurred while Mary was drawing water from a local spring in Nazareth, and the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation was erected at that alternate site.
.

The Church of the Annunciation is the largest Christian church building in the Middle East. In Roman Catholic tradition, it marks the site where the Archangel Gabriel announced the future birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-31).
