Retro Bus

Retro Bus

I took this shot at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust open day a few months ago. The place was mobbed and it was quite difficult to get a decent shot of the buses without people. I posted the image on flickr and then removed it as there was something about the picture that I didn't quite like, it seem to lack a bit of sparkle. I decided to run it through Topaz Adjust, a photoshop plugin that I bought. Im now pretty happy with the end result. Well, you know what it's like, yah wait ages for one decent shot and then two come along at once !

Cadoro Building

Cadoro Building

The Ca' D'Oro Building is at the corner of Glasgow's Union Street and Gordon Street, Architect John Honeyman is said to have based his design on the"Golden House" in Venice. The building became known as the Ca' D'Oro in 1927, when a restaurant of that name was opened there. In 1987 as a young fireman I attended a major fire in this lovely building, it was very badly damaged and took almost 5 years to restore. I took this shot earlier this year having just got off a train at Central Station.

Aberdour Boat Shed

Aberdour Boat Shed

I was in Fife today and spotted this lovely wee boathouse in Aberdour. I had to stand my gorund to get this shot as I was nearly blown off my feet. A slight injury to me would have been aceptable if I'd been blown over, but damage to my camera, well thats another story. So I gritted my teeth and held on ! lol

Another Another Turnberry Shot

Another Another Turnberry Shot

My photostream is turning into a Turnberry Lighthouse Gallery ! I took loads of shots of this place when walking last week because I thought it such a beautiful scene. It seems to me that coach loads of tourists come to Scotland and are driven around the tourist companys Scotland, viewing the usual hills from the same view points and being bused to the same tourist shops selling the same tartan tat. But they never get to see the real Scotland. You really have to get off the beaten track, like this place. Although it's beside a posh golf course it requires a bit of effort to get here and it certainly is worth it to see a wee bit of the 'Real Scotland'
