Competing Forces

Competing Forces

I’d wanted to photograph the Peter Hemingway Fitness and Leisure Centre for quite some time and finally spent a few minutes there in the fall. I envisioned this in black and white and am happy with how it turned out. It’s a fascinating structure – both inside and out. There is really nothing like swimming under natural light in a structure made of steel and glass, and supported by massive cables! Peter Hemingway was an Edmontonian, and award winning architect. He designed this swimming pool, which was renamed in his honour (previously “Coronation”) after he passed away in 1995.

I'm experimenting with post-processing. These three photos are quite a way outside my normal comfort zone.
