Project 365 - 2011
It's the time of year I love, spending time with family and friends and making resolutions that may or may not be kept.

One of my resolutions is to do another 365 project. I completed one last August and it had a tremendous impact on my photography, and after I took some time off I realized how much I missed having something like this to drive my photography.

I'll be updating this set as often as possible (hopefully every day) so please stop by often and of course any constructive criticism or comments in general are always welcome!

On the 31st we spent our last day relaxing at the pool of our resort. We went to town and walked around a bit but it was a pretty lazy day as we were out the previous day taking a ton of pictures and needed a break. In the evening we got ready for our big New Years Party at Ku De Ta, which is a super cool club in Bali in Seminyak, which is where we stayed. The party was great, we had a blast, they had fireworks in the evening and it was a wonderful way to say goodbye to 2011 and a say hello to 2012. I chose this picture with my beautiful wife to finish the 365 project; needless to say without her my collection of pics would exceptionally drab and boring. Thank you baby!!

Wow - so it's done. This is now my second 365 project and I've gotta say it doesn't have the same impact as the first. I don't know what the story was but when I finished the first 365 I was pretty emotional about it, very proud of the achievement, and basically wanted to shout it from the rooftops. This time though it was a bit more of a challenge just to get through it. Don't get me wrong - I'm again thrilled with having done so, learning more about photography and documenting a year of my life but for some reason the feeling was a little different.

In 2011 my wife and I went to the following countries on holiday -
Lisbon, Portugal
Ljubljana, Slovenia
India (various places)
Nepal (Kathmandu, Pokhara and hiking in the Himalaya)
Sri Lanka
Denver, CO in the good 'ol US of A
Butler, PA in the good 'ol US of A
Salzburg, Austria
Munich, Germany
Hong Kong and Macau
Ending in Bali

I've decided to take a break from the "Photo a day" project for a while. I need some time to get my act together with the pictures I have. To that end I'd like to take the opportunity to mention that I've created a blog (who hasn't) and it will be my project for 2012 (and potentially longer, seeing how things go).

The title of the blog is Postcard Intellect, and you can see it at I'm also opening up a SmugMug account to take some of my better pictures to and create a legit portfolio once and for all. I'll still be using Flickr of course but I want to get my better photos in another location on the web and I think SmugMug is the right choice.

The blog is focusing on travel photography, something that I've grown pretty passionate about over the last few years with all of the places we've been. The fact of the matter is I'm someone who enjoys traveling and takes photos while abroad; I'm not really a photographer that travels. So I wanted to share my experiences and any advice I have for those of you out there that are planning trips to some of the places I've been. My goal is to share a few nuggets of wisdom from my travels abroad and maybe even give some tutorials on how to take better travel photos. I hope you take some time to check it out if you're so inclined.

And with that, my Flickr friends, I leave you and close out my 2011 365 project. I wish everyone a safe and prosperous 2012 and hope you get some great snaps this year!

Cheers -
