this was after the 115th boston marathon on monday - the guy is replaciing potassium stores by means of a banana and readying the gatorade to wash it down - both sides of a full block are lined with giveaway food: bananas, power drink, cookies, bagels, and other recovery potions - the capes are mylar and each of the 20,000+ finishers gets a medal hung around his/her neck
i waded into the pack and had no trouble from runners or staff so i must have behaved
