I have wanted to do a shot like this for a long time so I decided to try it today. I discovered that there are almost limitless images that can come from this, but rolling the paper into the curls is a rather long drawn out affair. I think there is the possibility that I will do more of these as I quite like the effect. For this one, I adjusted the hue slightly to add the tinge of blue to the gray and decreased the contrast slightly. Lit by a table lamp toward the top of the image. I can see that using more than one light and varying their placement, can provide a huge amount of variety to the appearance of these images, as can playing with changes in how the paper is rolled and arranged. The arrangement I used for this image was a rather haphazard placement and I'd like to experiment with a more structured one.

52 weeks/52 words: week 10: happiness

I was going to shoot my dog with a ball for this topic but when I was out walking him today I spotted this little beauty on the side of the road. A sure sign of spring I'd say..and that definitely makes me happy! :)
As a side note, this little daisy is only about an inch across and shorter than the grass growing around it. There was 2 of them in this area and another a little further down the road. I'd never seen this type before. It was very vivid in comparison to the green grass growing around it.

Although I like this image and found myself taking it without really giving it a whole lot of thought past "hey that looks cool", I don't know if I would call it Zen... It seems a bit busy to me, but then again, thats the state of my mind most of the time so it shouldn't be surprising. :)

Flash on left side with paper snoot, white paper on right to bounce some light back onto the dice.

It really surprised me how difficult it was to get both dice in focus, even at a high aperture. For that matter it surprised me how hard it was to get both dice in the shot at all! HA! It took a few shots to get a usable one and I was pretty happy to see it showed sides that all added up to 7.

This week I want to see you search for something that reminds you of imprisonment, it can be some hands on the bars, a tiger in a zoo or an alcoholic stuck on the bottle.

Restriction: No B&W, I know it's harder :)

Dare: no dare this week

WIT: This is a bit of a fence that provides a barrier between the path and the cliff's edge at Little Qualicum River Falls. The sunlight was hitting it just right to provide a good amount of bokeh. Taken with 60mm lens at f/5 to provide enough detail to make out the entwining links. Post editing included very slight adjustment to contrast, addition of name and frame.
