The Edge of the World

The Edge of the World

Assignment 52: A Weekly Photo Adventure: Silhouette

We took the day yesterday and went on an all day drive to the southern part of the island. We went through Port Renfrew, along the coast to Sooke, and then into Victoria where we ate dinner in China Town. We then came up the island highway back to home. All in all, we were gone 12 hours but what a day! It was so nice to go and see parts of the island I hadn't seen before. We experienced every type of weather from glorious sunshine to sever storms coming in off the ocean. This shot was taken at Sombrio Beach, south of Port Renfrew as a storm was passing by that never quite managed to reach us.

Recording Images: Reflective Surfaces

Thought for the Day

“To be one’s self, and unafraid
whether right or wrong,
is more admirable than the easy cowardice
of surrender to conformity.”

~ Irving Wallace

I found myself another set of 3 tiny "wine glasses" at a local thrift shop for 25 cents each. They are crystal instead of glass and have a slightly different shape and different stem. I included them in this shot.. they are the ones with the straighter stems.. They are cute but I can't help but wonder what they are really for. Maybe I'm right in thinking they are some kind of shot glass or perhaps they are for ice wine... not sure but they make great subjects for my photos not to mention the fact that I just like them. At that same thrift shop, I also found myself another sheet of glass for doing images such as this on. I haven't painted the back yet, but at the angle I took this at I managed to avoid the double reflection anyway. Now I can get back to doing the reflection and glass shots that I enjoy so much :)

5 in a Row

5 in a Row

Our Daily Challenge: February 21: Game

The Great 150 Scavenger Hunt: #103 A Game

Sequence is a fun game involving a board with 2 decks of cards pictured on it, two decks of cards, and 3 colours of playing pieces. Any number of people from 2 and up can play. The process involves picking cards from the pile, placing your colour piece on the card on the board that matches your card in your hand which you then discard. The first person to complete 2 rows of 5 is the winner. Of course, there are a couple of things that can prevent that from happening such as 1 eyed jacks which allow another player to remove one of your pieces. The other jacks are wild. :)
