Golden silence, serenity at its finest
I got up very early to go the Woodburn Tulip fields, with Dennis.
It was worth it, and so serene, very peaceful.
Shot at 24mm with the 14-24mm lens and a hand held GND 3 stop filter.
Sunrise at Woodenshoe Tulip Festival Woodburn Oregon

I love this one Dave. The location of the horizon and the timing of the sun are both excellent, and the flowers in the foreground as well as that brilliant flare make this shot close to perfect. A little more color in the sky would have been the final touch.
Very, very nicely done Dave. :)

Thanks Gary, some drama clouds up ther would have definitely helped, but the moment the sun came up and hit me I was in awe, it really was quite a moment.

Absolutely lovely capture. I was there the day before and framed some shots from the same general POV as this. All I had to deal with the brightness in the early morning sunrise was a circular polarizer and hence, all my shots like this had the sky blown out. It's a shame really, because some of them had incredible warm sun rays. I think I will be back next week with a GND, hoping this will help with the sky.
Did you use a GND for this ?

Well worth getting up early for. Fantastic shot!

To Gaz photo's. Yes, I did use a GND 3 stop for this shot, the 14-24mm lens is too large for any filters to fit on it, but I was able to hold one in front of the lens for this shot.
Thanks everyone for your comments.

My only complaint is that the lighting on the flowers in the foreground doesn't quite fit. I'm guessing they were lit with a flash? The light is just too white in front.

--Really sweet man..I just got back from shooting sunset there..Gonna look through the images and see if I got anything..It was brutally windy =(
Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)

Perfect composition with the horizon in the first horizontal third, and both the tree and the sun in the first and second third . I agree with sociotard about the white light over the foreground tulips, but if that's not the effect of the flash you may try to apply a yellow or orange filter in photoshop just to warm up the light in the lowest third. I think you'll get a better light atmosphere. In any case this is a magnificent photo and my fav.
