212/365 Old Skool

212/365 Old Skool

On our way home from Mexico, one of our buses broke down. Thankfully we made it across the border, but we had to leave the bus in San Diego for the evening with an auto repair place. Our team piled into the smaller, older bus. Praise God we had two buses down there and were still able to make it home on time. That being said, I missed the other bus. It was bigger, newer and had higher seats that you could sink down into and no one would know you were there. But our old bus had it’s charms, like this clock. Old school? You’d better believe it.

211/365 Hasta luego

That’s it? The two weeks are already over? As our buses were pulling out of the ranch, I sat in disbelief. I spent seven months planning and preparing for this trip and it was already over. Time does go by incredibly quickly as you get older. I wish there was a way to make things slow down, even just a bit.

As the ranch staff so lovingly reminded us, this isn’t a good bye, it’s a see you later.

Three months until November :)

210/365 Muchas cartas

210/365 Muchas cartas

This beautiful nina was working on some cards for her amigos. Our message board team set up a station where the ninos and amigos could write cards and letters to each other. Such a great way to encourage and affirm each other. The kids loved not only receiving cards but making cards for their amigos too.

208/365 Good morning.

208/365 Good morning.

One of the best mornings of the week. Second week in Mexico is by far more tiring and exhausting than the first week. During the first week, I’m always one of the first people to wake up. In stark contrast I’m always one of the last during the second week. This morning was no different than the rest. But then something happened to make this morning stand out from all the other days. When the ninos came back from their morning walk, my baby Nicholas presented me with a small bouquet of flowers. So sweet and so beautiful.

One of the orphanage’s volunteers told me that Nicholas loves to give gifts. In Mexicali, if there are no flowers, he will just put sticks into a cup of water and give it to people. He said that Nicholas gives his gifts to the people he cares most about.

SIGH.

LOVE.
