Stubble!

Stubble!

Had another great walk yesterday, a 13 mile circuit around north Dorset on a really cold but beautifully bright day. As always the light took on a magical warm tone towards the end of the day when I passed this field of stubble near Durweston. The warm tones bear no semblance to the actual temperature which at this point was below freezing! Still, every cloud has a silver lining - since it was at freezing point most of the day, the ground was hard so there was less mud :)!

What caught my eye here was the tones, textures and lines, and I thought the distant tree gave a focal point.

I think it looks much better on black!

Two walkers in love!

Two walkers in love!

Aww, and doesn't it show :))!

This is my son Paul and his lovely wife Laura - they make such a great couple and are such good company! We went walking for the day a while ago and as always, I took pictures - they pose so beautifully :))! This was taken at Melbury Beacon in North Dorset on a lovely bright crisp day........the sun was so bright that I just had to put something in the picture to hide its fierceness (only kidding)!!

I thought I'd post this today because it's Paul's birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY Paul :) This is your birthday surprise!!!!

You probably gather that I am proud of my family, they are very special :)!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are all having a good week!

The Light Beyond

The Light Beyond

This is another shot taken with the Canon G9 compact. We had a family day out in Lyme Regis on Saturday and there was quite a nice sunset for a short time so I thought I'd do something a bit different with it. I think the old gas lamps are quite 'photogenic' and it was at just about the right height :)! Naturally I wish I'd had the SLR with me.....

Thanks for looking and hope you all have a good week.

Better on black I reckon :)

On the ridge

On the ridge

This was taken on one of my regular walks around Pamphill and the River Stour. Every time I pass these trees I stop and admire them - it's their shape and the grouping silhouetted against the bright sky that I like!! And on this day last week, the sky was particularly nice. I did try to get an off centre composition but this just seemed to work.

This was again taken with the G9 compact. Because I have a particular project that I am working on at the moment, I am focussing on the walking much more than the photography so haven't really taken so many 'serious' images with the SLR.

This one definitely needs viewing on black to see the full effect :)

Upon the dark sea!

Upon the dark sea!

The light was rather nice this day and a lonely sailing dinghy happened along, picked out by the sun against an inky sea! Taken from the cliff top near Old Harry Rocks.

Thanks for your visit and for your comments.
