I like it. Not you average portrait. Really brings home the state of current affairs without being too "in your face". Keep it up Brian :)

Do you know Nina Berman's work on wounded soliders?
You might like to check it out and see someone else who's dealing with the same theme photographically. I've seen some of her prints and they are stunning. Huge, colorful, straight. They stop you dead.

Do you have other frames of the same man? I wonder if there are other ways to show this situation....maybe just the eye in his hand....maybe not. Perhaps this *is* the way to show it. I guess my only hesitation would be that the photo tells the whole story and leaves no mystery. Take this with a grain of salt; I'm personally trying to explore ways of showing something without actually showing it, so that is what is particularly on my mind these days....

I'm so thrilled to look through all your work. I haven't logged into Flickr in months...so I've missed out on a lot!

It's so inspiring to see you work, and work, and work. That's what we need to do, just make pictures.

I like it a lot Brian. Kind of reminds me of a surrealist kind of thing, Man Ray or something like that. Really powerful and direct. Very nice.

Hey Brian, I'd like to see more like this. It is very powerful. Unlike the fly fishing photos I think this kind of thing might be done better with the 35mm RF you have. The Holga tends to romanticize too much I think. But, hey, you'd probably tell me my stuff would all look better with a Holga!

I think you have a valid point Jeff.
If I am even in a situation like this I will do it with both cameras.

Good for you , doing this, making this strong portrait, very unusual and intelligent use of the medium.
