I love this woman. Snapped this with my iPhone yesterday while we were enjoying an afternoon coffee break.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see.

I love this quote. I think most photographers and artists probably relate well to these words, actually.

On Sunday I had the privilege of shooting an old friend of mine. He's an extremely talented musician. He's been playing music as long as I've known him. We met when we were ten or eleven and even then he was in a band. Some artists discover their passion early. He definitely falls into that category. Anyway, I had the best time at this shoot. We got to use a swanky bi-level presidential suite at one of the nicest hotels in the area. But beyond the cushy location, I had the freedom to really be creative and artsy with how/what we were shooting. Which of course is like Christmas to any photographer.

Anyway, back to the quote. I love that as a photographer and an artist, where others see a boring conference table, and arguably the least interesting part of this suite, we saw an opportunity for some really beautiful artistic expression here. I was dying over the reflections in this table. Hopefully Ryan likes these too. This is just a little sneak peek. I have a ton of photos of him, so you'll likely be seeing more. He even climbed into the bathtub in his suit for me. Now that's what I call trusting my artistic vision. :)

If you're gonna be two-faced at least make one of them pretty.

Wow am I ever out of practice taking self portraits. It's going to take a little time to clear out the cobwebs and get the hang of this again. Anyway, I'm finally at a place where I have the time to start up my new project. Which is good because as much as I love doing client work, it just doesn't allow the same kind of creative freedom of expression that working your own project does.

So I've dubbed this the 100 Quotes Project. I was inspired by a music project that my friend Tara did a few years ago. The essence of this project is that I have 100 quotes that will inspire 100 images. I will be working through the quotes in whatever order strikes my fancy and doing them as often or as seldom as I please. I'm done with rigorous time schedules on these projects. When I was bouncing around this idea in my head, I talked to a couple of friends and asked if they'd like to help select quotes and participate in the project too. Because they're awesome, they said yes. So the list is comprised of quotes chosen by myself, Jenna, Cat and Joel. If you're interested in seeing the quotes, you can check them out here. And while we selected quotes that mean something to and/or inspire us, if any of you are interested in doing the project too, you're more than welcome to join us. :)

So hooray to the first image of my new project, however plain and simple it may be. It feels good to be back.
