Mamón Chino

Mamón Chino, a fruit also known as Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum). The red part is a shell, similar in thickness to an orange peel. It splits in half when you press the center, and reveals a white, jelly-like inside, with a brown pit. It tastes tart, kind of like one of those fruit skittles.

  

SB600 from top, at 1/2 power. Shot in a strobist lunch box, lined with typing paper, same technique as the cake photos for Bootcamp II.
