“We should pay as much reverence to youth as we should to age; there are points in which you young folks are altogether our superiors: and I can't help constantly crying out to persons of my own years, when busied about their young people -- leave them alone; don't be always meddling with their affairs, which they can manage for themselves; don't be always insisting upon managing their boats, and putting your oars in the water with theirs.”
-William Makepeace Thackeray quotes (Indian born English Author and Novelist of 'Vanity Fair', 1811-1863)-

      the coldness of age
the point in time when things fall into perspective
and you look back and see
that in that direction the darkness narrows
as it did when you were anticipating the future
cruelly though there is a point
where even when pressed to remember
you can not remember what really grew
ten seasons past and do not know
much past that the memories coalescing
with the grandiose visions that occupied your time
years past, now locked firmly and undisputedly
in frozen time joined by the glue of collective unconsciousness
you stared at all the stars in your path
you tried to count them one by one
when the coldness in front will pulled you in
all you have left are little twinges that remind you
you most have done something to
have caused all these aches and pains

Lovely rich colours, I'm missing my old deck chair... I think I'll get another, if they still make them. On the youth quotation, a new broom sweeps clean..... but an old one knows where the dirt is!
