Scytodes thoracica

Scytodes thoracica

spotted on her 1st walkabout in the New Year. The legs' shadows reveal (pop-up flash used in a hurry) how the spider moves its legs: l1, r2, l3 and r4 do not touch the wall!

White storks

White storks

resting atop their last season breeding site. Their offspring have departed in late summer while the parents remained to the present day. We were delighted to see them on our New Year's stroll!

Swan River :)

Swan River :)

seems an apt 2nd name for the Rhine, too, as in winter 4 species of swans could be observed there: Mute, Whooper, Bewick's and Black, a pair of which are shown here. It is still too mild for the two northern species to come down to here yet.
