- don't worry, this is straight, a breeze came in the window and about 3 seconds after I took this photo the quilt fell off the wall. I need to get pins today.

Oregon Star
I've had this mini quilt done for months...but I hate making binding. I love hand sewing binding down...but making binding? Barf. I had 7 minis last night that I sucked it up & made binding for, I think I get a bonus point or something. This was the first one I bound...it'll take me the rest of the summer to bind the rest...haha.
Also, I tried out Thread Heaven last night....wowzers...that is one FANTASTIC product. I always use too much thread and it gets knotted and tangled...not so with this stuff! It was great!

Wow! Your fussy cutting skills rock! I've never heard of thread heaven, but have dealt with tangles while sewing on binding. Must learn more!

I love the fussy work in the star. It really looks great. I have used bees wax for years. I guess it does the same thing as Thread Heaven.

Looks fabulous. I have a quilt that I need to bind and I have the same problem. I just don't want to sew the freaking strips together. It isn't even hard. Why am I such a slacker?

oh my gaaaahhh!!!!!!!!!! you are my idol!
you know the other day i tried sewing on binding without ironing it first?? and it TOTALLY worked (this was on my castle peeps quilt). just folded it in half as I went.....no problem. of course the rotary cutting and sewing strips together is still a pain but the ironing is the part that really gets me.
also, whenever you make binding for a big quilt you should make a tad bit extra to have hanging around for minis!

wow wow wow! i love everything about this mini quilt!!! mermaids, corners, straight lines, color choice, fabric choice for the star in the center. it is just gorgeous!
ha ha ha! i'm so like you w/the binding. i actually love hand binding it...but making it...another story. and yes, thread heaven is, well, heaven! :) ha ha ha! my quilting teacher said to use it and life would be wonderful...she was right! :)
