It appears that only one of the two eggs was fertile. I believe this is a little male and this photo shows his pin feathers starting to emerge from their sheaths two days later.
This photo was taken on June 13, 2009 in Musqueam Indian Reserve 4, British Columbia, CA, using an Olympus SP550UZ.

I can only imagine that finding a hummingbird nest is a difficult task to begin with, and then to get close enough to capture a photo like this, must have taken an incredible amount of stealth and patience,. This is so incredible in the large size, that I was amazed at the detail of this little guy!
