Yvonne Drewry
Art by Yvonne Drewry (1918-2007).

Yvonne was a Suffolk painter who worked in oil and watercolour, and was also a printmaker and weaver. Prominent on the local art scene, she exhibited regularly in Felixstowe, Woodbridge and Ipswich, and held an annual Sale of Work at her cottage. In the 1970s she lived at Trimley St Martin, then moved to Tuddenham, and finally Hollesley where she worked until being forced to move to a nursing home for her final days.

Yvonne's pheonomenal output included beautiful hand printed Christmas cards and books which she printed herself on an antique Albion press. She was also an avid gardener and cook.

In addition to working as an artist, Yvonne taught art all her life, both for the local authority and in independent study weeks that she ran at her own house. In particular, she was one of the major influences on Maggi Hambling www.tes.co.uk/article.aspx?storycode=392792 www.independent.co.uk/life-style/an-oscar-winner-after-al...
